Early tulips along a path, with the large blooms of ‘Red Impression’, ‘Salmon Impression’ and ‘Novi Sun’ behind them: Tulip Celebration fills your border in one go. This value pack contains 180 organic tulip bulbs in six varieties. Red, salmon pink and yellow are complemented by lilac Tulipa saxatilis and the striking blue-and-white centre of ‘Little Beauty’.

For €50, you receive €104.23 worth of tulip bulbs at individual retail prices. The value is based on the current individual packs in our webshop.

All quantities in the table are individual tulip bulbs. The pack combines low botanical tulips with taller Darwin hybrids.

From early botanical tulips to large spring blooms

‘Red Beauty’, Tulipa saxatilis and ‘Little Beauty’ stay around 15 cm tall. Plant them at the front, beside a path or in a shallow planter. In sunshine, their flowers open to reveal yellow centres in ‘Red Beauty’ and saxatilis, and blue with white in ‘Little Beauty’. These three botanical varieties also attract pollinators.

The tall tulips create a different effect: red ‘Red Impression’, soft salmon-pink ‘Salmon Impression’ and bright yellow ‘Novi Sun’. Plant small groups behind the low tulips or among perennials. You can also cut a few stems for a vase.

Flowering is spread over March, April and May. The varieties do not all flower together; the weather and garden position determine when each opens. The collage shows the six varieties separately.

How to plant this tulip mix

Plant from October while the soil is neither frozen nor too wet. Choose sun or light partial shade and soil that drains excess water well. Place the pointed end of each bulb upwards.

Low botanical tulips

Plant ‘Red Beauty’, Tulipa saxatilis and ‘Little Beauty’ about 7 cm deep and 7 cm apart in small groups so the flowers stand out. In a suitable, well-drained position, they can stay in the ground and spread gradually.

Tall Darwin-hybrid tulips

Plant ‘Red Impression’, ‘Salmon Impression’ and ‘Novi Sun’ about 10 cm deep and 15 cm apart. Adjust to bulb size: two to three times the bulb's height is a useful guide. Pots need drainage holes and should not stand in water for long periods.

Care after flowering

Remove spent tall tulip flowers if you do not want seeds. Leave all foliage until it yellows naturally so the bulbs can rebuild reserves. Botanical tulips can naturalise in a suitable position. Large tulips may flower less freely in later years; lift them after the foliage dies, store them dry and well ventilated, and replant in autumn.
