A generous flower bulb pack for a large garden

The Estate Garden Pack contains 1,145 organic flower bulbs in fifteen varieties: 425 alliums, 690 tulips and 30 blue Camassia. Tall alliums give borders structure, large tulips bring colour and low botanical tulips suit sunny grassy areas or border edges.

Reduced from €1,000 to €395: over 60% off. The individual retail value of this selection is €1,017.05, calculated per bulb using our current individual retail packs. Alliums account for approximately 56% of that value.

We still have plenty of these varieties in stock as the selling season draws to a close. We would rather see them bloom in your garden than end up on the compost heap. That is why we are offering this large pack at an especially attractive price.

How many square metres can you plant?

Lower star-shaped alliums for borders6016 bulbs/m²3.8 m²
Large tulips for borders21050 bulbs/m²4.2 m²
Camassia for borders3016 bulbs/m²1.9 m²
Low tulips for grassy areas or border edges48075 bulbs/m²6.4 m²

Enough for around 36 m² when planted in separate areas. These areas are guidelines for an airy planting scheme. They are calculated by dividing each variety’s bulb count by the stated planting density. When planting in layers within the same border, the areas overlap and should not be added together. You can also distribute the bulbs in smaller groups among existing plants.

Planting in borders and grassy areas

Plant from October while the ground is neither frozen nor too wet. Choose well-drained soil and a sunny spot; alliums also tolerate light partial shade. Allow around 33 cm for ‘Gladiator’, 25 cm for ‘Mount Everest’, ‘Purple Sensation’ XL and ‘Christophii’, and 20 cm for ‘Ping Pong’. Plant in groups for a natural arrangement.

Plant the 210 large tulips (‘Red Impression’, ‘Salmon Impression’ and ‘Novi Sun’) in groups in the border, around 14–15 cm apart. Allow about 25 cm for the 30 Camassia leichtlinii ‘Caerulea’, in a spot that does not dry out completely in spring. The six botanical tulips, including ‘Zwanenburg’, ‘Bronze Charm’ and 30 Tulipa sylvestris, together form the low group.

Plant the low tulips in sunny grass margins or grassy areas that can be left to grow longer in spring. At 75 bulbs per m², the average spacing is around 11–12 cm. Wait until the foliage has turned completely yellow before mowing. A well-drained spot that does not stay wet for long in summer helps the tulips return.

Plant ‘Red Beauty’, Tulipa saxatilis, ‘Little Beauty’ and ‘Bronze Charm’ around 7 cm deep; the large tulips, ‘Zwanenburg’ and Tulipa sylvestris around 10 cm. Larger alliums and Camassia usually go 10–15 cm deep. Adjust to bulb size: two to three times the bulb height is a useful guideline.

Care and naturalising

Let all foliage turn yellow naturally after flowering. This allows the bulbs to build up reserves for the next season. Leave the allium seedheads standing or dry them. In a suitable location, the bulbs can return and gradually spread; results vary with the variety and growing conditions. Divide overcrowded groups during dormancy and replant in autumn. The large Darwin tulips may flower less abundantly in subsequent years. Do not let Camassia dry out completely in spring.
