Organic purple ornamental onion

The Allium 'Purple Sensation' is also known as Dutch garlic and has medium-sized purple flowers. They bloom late in the spring; therefore they can be combined well with colored perennials. The bees love them and they smell wonderful! Plant them in groups in the garden or in pots for a wow effect. They will provide years of fun!

It grows to a height of about 80 centimeters to a meter and blooms for about 4 weeks in May and June. The purple umbellifer, which is almost round like a ball, has a flower diameter of approximately 15 centimeters wide and consists of approximately 300 star-shaped flowers. It looks a lot like the white Allium 'Mount Everest', which is why they can be combined well with each other.

How, where and when do I plant Allium 'Purple Sensation' flower bulbs?

A flower bulb needs a cold period. Therefore, plant it in the ground in the autumn from October to January. The planting depth is 2 to 3 times the flower bulb itself and the planting distance is 2 to 3 times the width of the flower bulb itself. Plant it in full sun or partial shade in a nutrient-rich, water-permeable, preferably calcareous, sandy soil.

Care

After flowering, cut off the spent flowers and once the foliage has died, the flower bulb can be dug out to divide the flower bulb. It usually multiplies. The flower bulbs are then stored in the shed until September and are then replanted in the ground. The flower bulbs can also be left in the ground. These naturalize and grow again on their own.
