Bio Allium 'Azureum' & 'Jeannine' mix

De Bloemoloog has put together a beautiful late flowering allium mix that combines very well with each other. The blue color of the 'Azureum' makes the gold look extra noticeable. Very decorative in pots together with early flowering flower bulbs, but also very suitable for naturalizing in the garden. They emerge every year and even multiply. This way you have more and more flowers to enjoy.

The Bloemoloog® has selected for you:

  • 10 Organic Allium caeruleum 'Azureum'
  • 10 Organic Allium moly 'Jeannine'

Organic blue globe onion

The Siberian Allium caeruleum 'Azureum' owes its name to its azure blue color. It blooms with star-shaped flowers in umbels with a diameter of about 7 centimeters. The leaves are linear and angular and the stem is about 50 centimeters high. With most alliums, the leaves turn yellow quite quickly during flowering, but the blue allium still retains its leaves beautifully during flowering.

Due to the abundance of nectar that the plant provides, it attracts bees, bumblebees and butterflies very well. Because of the late flowering time, they can be planted between early flowering perennials for a beautiful effect. It is very suitable for naturalization, it comes back faithfully every year.

Organic golden garlic

Allium moly 'Jeannine' is a cultivar with slightly larger flowers and taller stems than the original Allium moly.
It grows to a height of about 30 centimeters, has umbel-shaped flowers of about 7 centimeters wide and blooms in May and June. Plant them in a sunny spot in fertile, well-drained soil. This species of allium is excellent for naturalization, it comes back faithfully every year.

Plant them in groups for a full bouquet of flowers, one bulb can produce two flower stems. Due to its bright yellow color, it will stand out in the middle of the border among the other perennials or in the edible garden. The flowers are edible and taste slightly like garlic.

How, where and when do I plant an allium flowerbulb?

The two allium varieties are winter hardy and need a cold period, so plant them in the ground from October to January. The planting depth is approximately 2 to 3 times the height of the flowerbulb itself and the planting distance is 15 centimeters apart.

It prefers a sunny position, but can also be planted in partial shade. It blooms in almost any nutrient-rich soil, but does not like wet feet.

Care of the allium

The spent flowers are cut off at the top of the stem and the foliage dies off automatically. The flowerbulb can possibly be removed from the ground to move the small bulbs resulting from propagation. The flowerbulbs must then be back in the ground before winter. Any food is good, but she does not require any further care.
