Organic ornamental onion mix

Give your garden a magical look at the end of spring with this ornamental onion mix . You can enjoy the floral beauty that this mix brings for several months. Combine with late blooming daffodils and tulips or possibly with early blooming perennials that continue to bloom into the summer.

Organic alliums contain a lot of nectar for insects such as bees due to the many small flowers in the umbel. Every bouquet gets a little extra with these excellent cut flowers and they are also very suitable for drying.

De Bloemoloog® has selected for you:

  • 1 Bio Allium 'Mount Everest'
  • 1 Bio Allium 'Purple Sensation'
  • 1 Bio Allium 'Schubertii'
  • 4 Bio Allium 'Sphaerocephalon'
  • 4 Bio Allium ampeloprasum 'Ping Pong'
  • 4 Bio Allium caeruleum 'Azureum'
  • 1 Bio Allium albopilosum 'Christophii'
  • 4 Bio Allium moly 'Jeannine'

How, where and when do I plant allium flowerbulbs?

All types of allium are best planted from October onwards. The planting depth is 2 to 3 times the height of the flowerbulb itself and the planting distance is 2 to 3 times the width of the bulb. (Keep a distance of 20 centimeters from each other for Christophii and 50 centimeters for Schubertii.) Alliums do not like wet feet. Plant them in a nutrient-rich, water-drained sandy soil. In a sunny to semi-shaded spot in the garden. The small flowered ones can also be planted under trees and shrubs.

Care of the Allium

The types A . 'Azurea', A . 'Jeannine', A ' Christophii', A . 'Mount Everest', A ' Ping Pong' A . 'Purple Sensation' and A . 'Sphaerocephalon' are suitable for naturalization. Provide annual organic food, otherwise little maintenance.

For optimal results, the A. 'Schubertii' is removed from the ground every year almost immediately after flowering, dried and stored in a warm room such as a shed. This causes the flower buds in the flowerbulb to grow large again for the next year. The flowerbulbs are replanted in October and immediately provided with organic nutrition.
