Organic White Ornamental Onion 'Mount Everest'

The Allium 'Mount Everest' is a beautiful ornamental onion from the stipitatum group, a collection of alliums known for their large, star-shaped flowers and vigorous growth. With its lovely white umbels, this variety blooms late in spring; therefore, these ornamental onions can be excellently combined with colorful perennials in the border. Thanks to the abundant nectar in the star-shaped flowers, bees love them, making this allium a true bee-friendly plant. Plant them in groups in your garden or in pots for a wow effect. They provide years of joy and color in your garden!

The 'Mount Everest' grows to about 80 centimeters to one meter tall and blooms in May and June for approximately 4 weeks. The white umbel, which is almost spherical like a ball, has a flower diameter of about 15 centimeters and contains around 300 star-shaped florets. It closely resembles the purple Allium 'Purple Sensation', so they can be well combined.

How, where and when do I plant bulbs of Allium 'Mount Everest'?

An Allium 'Mount Everest' bulb requires a cold period. Therefore, plant it in the ground from October to January. The planting depth is 2 to 3 times the size of the bulb, and the planting distance is 2 to 3 times the width of the bulb. Plant it in full sun or partial shade in a nutrient-rich, well-drained, preferably calcareous sandy soil.

Care

Allow the flowers to fully fade so that seeds can form and the plant can self-seed. In summer, you can optionally dig up the bulb to divide it, as it usually multiplies. Then store the bulbs in a shed until October, after which you plant them again. You can also leave the bulbs in the ground; they naturalize and will come back on their own.

Apply organic fertilizer immediately when planting and in spring before flowering for optimal results!
