Organic purple ornamental onion

The Allium 'Violet Beauty' blooms in late spring, for about 4 weeks in May and June, with flower stems of approximately 60 centimeters high. The almost round flowers, like a ball, consist of about 200 star flowers and have a total flower diameter of about 10 centimeters. It produces sturdy flower stems that grow from a clump of 30 centimeter long, slender leaves. This property makes it ideal to plant the flowerbulbs between low perennials. The purple half-round flowers of the Allium 'Violet Beauty' also fit beautifully with white allium varieties such as the Allium 'Mount Everest' or the Allium 'Cowanii', creating a harmonious color palette.

This allium attracts bees because of its attractive purple flowers and abundant nectar and also has a light scent.
Plant them in groups in the garden or in pots for a stunning effect. They will provide many years of enjoyment!

How, where and when do I plant flowerbulbs of an Allium 'Violet Beauty'?

A flowerbulb of the Allium 'Violet Beauty' needs a cold period. Therefore, plant it in the ground in the autumn from October to January. The planting depth is 2 to 3 times the flower bulb itself and the planting distance is 2 to 3 times the width of the flower bulb itself. Plant it in full sun or partial shade in a nutrient-rich, water-permeable, preferably calcareous, sandy soil.

Care of the allium

After flowering it is advisable to cut off the spent flowers. Once the foliage of the bulb has died, the bulb can be dug up for division as they usually reproduce. The flowerbulbs can be stored in a cool and dry area, such as a shed, until September. At that time they can be replanted in the ground. It is also possible to simply leave the flowerbulbs in the ground. They will grow wild and grow back on their own.

Provide organic nutrition immediately when planting and again in the spring just before flowering for optimal results!
