The true lily is characterized by its strong stems, which make the flowers stand proudly upright and can be used well as a cut flower. The scent that lilies spread, especially in the evening, is intoxicating and pleasant.

There are several types of lilies, including Asiatic, Oriental, trumpet, and more. Each type has its own unique characteristics, such as flower shape, height, and bloom time. Organically grown lilies are grown without chemical pesticides or fertilizers. This helps to create an environmentally friendly garden environment. They attract beneficial pollinating insects, which helps to increase the biodiversity in your garden.

Orienpet Petal Lilies

Our Orienpet lilies are strong hybrids that combine the best of Oriental and Trumpet lilies. They grow to over a metre high with 8 to 12 flowers per tuber, which are even bigger than your hand. The scent of the 'Maldano' and the 'Tisento' is not as intense as that of an Asiatic lily.

How, where and when do I plant lilies?

The bulb of a lily is winter hardy, so it can be planted directly in the ground. The recommended planting depth is 2 to 3 times the height of the bulb, and the ideal planting distance is also 2 to 3 times the width of the bulb. Lilies thrive in both partial shade and full sun.

The best soil type for lilies is a well-drained and fertile soil. They thrive best in a loose, humus-rich soil that retains sufficient moisture but is not too wet. Lilies are suitable for both pot and garden planting.

Caring for lilies

Cut off the dead lily flowers at the top of the flower stem in the summer and let the rest of the plant die back completely. In the fall, cut the dead plant back to the ground. It will come back faithfully every year. Give organic food annually in the spring for an optimal result!

History of the lily

The lily has a long history dating back to ancient Egypt, where it was associated with fertility and renewal. Lilies were often depicted in art and were used in religious ceremonies. In Asian cultures, such as China and Japan, the lily also has symbolic meanings. In some cases, it is associated with good luck and prosperity.

    Planting summer bloomers

    Planting summer flowering bulbs and tubers usually requires some preparation in the spring. They thrive in well-drained soil and generally require full sun or light shade.

    Pre-growing flower bulbs

    You can also choose to grow the frost-sensitive summer bloomers indoors from March, which is called pre-growing. The plant then has a head start and will flower earlier. You then place the pot in a light place in your room and keep the soil slightly moist. As soon as the night frost has gone, the pot can be placed outside or the flower bulb or tuber can be removed and replanted in the open ground. In that case, first keep the pot in a bucket of water for half a day and then plant the tuber in the open ground.

    Caring for summer bloomers

    - Peony : Peonies are well-known perennial summer bloomers. They bloom in the sun, but for longer flowering we recommend a semi-shaded spot.
