Organic fine-collared winter aconite

The Eranthis 'Cilicica' is a striking root vegetable that emerges early in the year, from mid-January, and is also called 'fine-collared winter aconite' or 'Cilician winter aconite'.

What sets this winter aconite apart is the finer green collar beneath the yellow flower compared to the 'Hyemalis' variety, which makes the flowers stand out even more beautifully. In addition, the flowers at the beginning of flowering have a slightly rounder shape than those of the Eranthis 'Hyemalis'. In addition to the more refined leaves, this adds extra charm to the plant. It stays 10 centimeters low and because it blooms so early in the year it is a good food source for pollinators such as bees and is perfect for adding color to the early spring garden.

The plant produces glossy, dark green, lobe-shaped leaves that grow from the ground. The leaves are often present before the flowers appear and remain green until summer. The Cilician winter aconite is known for its bright yellow flowers that resemble buttercups.

Combine Eranthis with Crocus, Chionodoxa or Scilla. It is a stinzenplant that faithfully returns every year.

How, where and when do I plant winter aconite tubers?

The tubers are planted from September until the frost period. Once the first frost occurs, it is no longer possible to plant. The recommended planting depth is 2 to 3 times the size of the tuber itself, and planting spacing should also be 2 to 3 times the width of the tuber. This plant thrives best in slightly moist soil, preferably under a tree or shrub. The Eranthis 'Cilicica' can be exposed to slightly more light than the European species and grows well in partial shade.

Care of the Eranthis

This naturalizing stinzenplant requires little care. Provide some annual organic food for optimal results. She faithfully returns to the right location every year.

Origin of the Eranthis 'Cilicica'

This variant of winter aconite is native to Iraq and Afghanistan. It comes from the ranunculaceae family.
