Organic tulip and daffodils mix
The Bloemoloog® has selected for you a soft color combination of two different types of spring flowering bulbs that bloom at the same time:
- 10 Organic Narcissus 'Bridal Crown'
- 10 Organic Tulipa 'Novi Sun'
This mix contains 10 of both types, packed separately, so that you can plant them nicely together in groups. It also gives a nice effect to plant these organically grown tulips and daffodils together. Just how you want!
How, where and when do I plant tulip and daffodil bulbs?
Tulip and daffodil flowerbulbs need a cold period. The flowerbulb is planted in the ground in the autumn from September so that it is in the ground during the winter and gets that cold period. When planting, maintain 2 to 3 times the height of the flowerbulb itself and in terms of width, maintain 2 to 3 times the width of the flowerbulb.
Plant them in a warm, sunny spot in a nutrient-rich, water-permeable, preferably calcareous, sandy soil, but will also grow in clay soil. As long as the soil is well-drained and does not retain excess water. If you have clay soil, you can improve the soil by adding organic matter such as compost or well-rotted manure to improve drainage.
Daffodil bulbs are poisonous, which is why they are avoided by rodents such as voles. Use them as a natural protection for other flowerbulbs by planting them around and between the other bulbs.
Care of the daffodil
After the cold winter, the tips rise and the bulb inside forms a flower that starts to bloom in April. The flower blooms until the end of May and then produces ovules. The faded flowers are cut off at the top so that the power goes to the flowerbulb instead of to the seed of the faded flower. Leave the foliage still attached because they ensure photosynthesis so that the flowerbulb gathers strength for the following year. Allow the foliage to die completely so that the strength returns to the bulb.
The leaves have completely died around July. The tulip bulb should then be dug up from the garden and hung in a warm shed so that the bulb can produce a large flower during that time. In the autumn the flowerbulb is replanted for new flowering in the spring.
