Organic white daffodil

The flowers of the Narcissus 'Papillon Blanc' belong to the split-crowned daffodils. This means that the petals (the central trumpet) are split and extend towards the surrounding petals, creating an effect reminiscent of butterfly wings. The flowers are predominantly white, with a light cream-coloured hue in the centre of the flower. Sometimes the split petals can show a hint of yellow or pastel tones, depending on the growing conditions and light. The flowers are medium-sized, with a diameter ranging from 7 to 10 cm.
Each stem bears one flower, but the plants can produce multiple stems, ensuring profuse flowering.

Narcissus 'Papillon Blanc' reaches a height of about 30 to 40 cm and flowers in early to mid spring, usually from April to May.

Narcissus 'Papillon Blanc' is ideal for use in mixed borders, flower beds, and as a cut flower in bouquets. It combines well with other spring flowering plants such as tulips , hyacinths , and pansies, as well as with perennials that flower later in the season.

How, where and when do I plant daffodil bulbs?

A daffodil bulb needs a cold period. Plant the flower bulbs in the ground from September to January. The planting depth is 2 to 3 times the height of the flower bulb itself and the planting distance is 2 to 3 times the width of the flower bulb itself.

In case of pot planting, the flower bulbs may be planted closer together and possibly stick half above the ground for decoration. After flowering, the flower bulbs should be planted in the garden again with the planting depth and distance discussed above.

Plant the narcissus 'Papillon Blanc' in a sunny to semi-shaded spot in the garden, pot or lawn. Plant it in groups in a nutritious, water-permeable, preferably chalky sandy soil, but will also grow in clay soil, as long as the soil is well-drained and does not retain excess water. If you have clay soil, you can improve the soil by adding organic matter such as compost or well-rotted manure to improve drainage.

Narcissus bulbs are poisonous, which is why they are avoided by rodents such as voles. Use them as a natural protection for other flower bulbs, which are eaten by voles, by planting them around and between the other flower bulbs.

Care

Provide organic food immediately when planting the flower bulbs. Cut off the faded flowers at the top and let the rest of the foliage die off. Only cut these off when the leaves have completely dried out. The Narcissus 'Papillon Blanc' is a strong species that naturalizes well, it comes back faithfully every year. Provide annual organic food for an optimal result. For organic potting soil, plant food and other soil improvers we recommend Bio Kultura !

Propagation

For propagation, the flower bulbs can be dug up at the beginning of the summer. The flower bulbs are dried and stored in a warm place. They can be planted again from September. Plant the small bulbs separately and give organic food so that the small flower bulbs also grow quickly.
