Organic botanical tulips

The Tulipa batalinii 'Bronze Charm' has a striking inflorescence with star-shaped flowers and usually produces one flower per flower stem. The petals have a bronze color with a charm, hence the name 'Bronze Charm'. The flowers are relatively small compared to some other tulip varieties, but they can provide a beautiful accent in borders, rock gardens or flower beds.

The flower stem grows to a height of 20 to 25 centimeters and usually bears one to several narrow, lance-shaped leaves, depending on the plant. These leaves usually grow at the base of the flower stem, close to the ground. They have a green color and can vary in length, but in general they are relatively short compared to the flower stem. These leaves often remain after the flowers have faded, keeping the plant visually attractive for some time.

How, where and when do I plant Tulipa batalinii flowerbulbs?

A tulip bulb is a flowerbulb that needs a cold period. The flowerbulb is best planted in the autumn from September so that it is in the ground during the winter and gets that cold period. When planting, maintain 2 to 3 times the height of the flowerbulb itself distance keep 2 to 3 times the width of the flowerbulb.

Tulipa 'Bronze Charm' thrives best in well-drained soil. Preference is given to a light, sandy soil with an average moisture content. It is important that the soil is not too moist or soggy, as this can lead to rotting of the flowerbulbs. Heavy clay soil can be problematic because it hinders water drainage and can suffocate the bulbs.

If your soil is naturally heavy and clayey, you can improve the soil by adding organic matter, such as compost, to improve drainage. Mixing sand into the soil can also help loosen the soil structure.

Care of the wild tulips

Give the Tulipa 'Bronze Charm' a light organic feed in the spring, just after the shoots start to appear. Allow the foliage to die back completely after flowering before removing it. The foliage provides the bulb with energy for the next growing season. The foliage can be cut away after it has turned yellow and wilted, but it also dies relatively quickly on its own.

If the flowerbulbs grow above the ground after a number of years, it is advisable to place them again in the autumn at the correct planting depth. A good guideline is to plant them at a depth of 2 to 3 times the height of the bulb.

Furthermore, it requires little maintenance and has the ability to naturalize . It returns faithfully every year and also multiplies slightly.
